We must teach what life would hold later on as an advanced stimulation of adult life. It is not only history that we need to know, it is a fabulously valuable experience for students to start thinking about their own and the societys alternative future. The catching of values by pupils will obviously depend upon the educational system as well as the society in which they live. Learning is a process in itself. I am aware of the fact that we are living in an era of globalisation and we have to look at the issues from a global perspective. But it is my conviction that ultimately we will have to “think globally, but act locally.â€
